OA-Tunbridge Wells students achieve strong results and look ahead to the future

2025-26 OA-Tunbridge Wells students achieved an excellent set of examination results, with particularly strong achievement in the core subjects of English and Maths.

93% of students achieved GCSEs in both English and Maths.

Across their wider programmes of study, 71% of students achieved at least four GCSEs and 61% achieved five or more. The alternative provision average rate of achieving 1 or more GCSE is 49% - showing we are well above sector national averages.

On average, pupils gained 6.5 qualifications across a broad range of academic and vocational Level 1 and Level 2 subjects.

The results are a significant achievement, but they are also part of a much bigger story. Success is about helping young people to belong – and that means supporting their wellbeing, confidence and personal development alongside their academic progress.

We have worked alongside students to help them overcome barriers, re-engage with learning and develop the confidence to think positively about their futures. For many, reaching this point represents a considerable journey from where they started.

That journey is now continuing into the next stage. Their qualifications, alongside the resilience, self-belief and independence they have developed, will provide a strong foundation as they take their next steps.

Their qualifications provide an important platform for future success – but so too do the resilience, self-belief and independence they have developed along the way.

Tony Machin, Executive Headteacher, said:

We are delighted with these results, but we know that grades are only part of the picture. We are equally proud of the confidence, independence and resilience our students have developed. They have shown real commitment to their learning and to themselves, and I hope they take that sense of achievement with them as they move on to their next steps.
